FutureB
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Buccaneers a B. The Buccaneers spent real capital to be 130 picks early on Luke Reimer, and the board is going to hold them to it. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Green value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Troy Fautanu
In the 28th pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick60
Rnd2
Adisa Isaac
No edge and no loss on Adisa Isaac in the 60th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick89
Rnd3
Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks in the Round 3 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick127
Rnd4
Jarrian Jones
Nothing to complain about; Jarrian Jones went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick129
Rnd4
Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at pick No. 129 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick159
Rnd5
Jaylen Wright
They took Jaylen Wright at par in pick 159, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick162
Rnd5
Javon Baker
Javon Baker at pick No. 162 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick204
Rnd6
Michael Barrett
Value with a capital V on Michael Barrett in the 204th overall pick, a genuine coup. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick244
Rnd7
Jalen Green
A slide stopped in the Round 7 slot, with Jalen Green worth more than the price. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick246
Rnd7
Maurice Smith
Maurice Smith at No. 246 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick255
Rnd7
Luke Reimer
This one needs a full-page explanation: Luke Reimer in the 255th pick, miles early. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
