The phones were a trap the Jets kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.

The McCaffrey reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Rattler at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

In short, a weekend the front office will want to forget in a hurry.
