Draft Grade — Jets
Overall F
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureD-
The Milton III reach set a tone the Jets could not shake: F.

The Jets spent real capital to be 73 picks early on Joe Milton III, and the board is going to hold them to it. A F, plain and simple.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The Richardson pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

The verdict is harsh because the weekend was, and there is little to argue.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Joe Alt
By-the-book stuff, Joe Alt at the Round 1 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick8 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
They took Rome Odunze at par in the 8th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick72 Rnd3 Patrick Paul
A reach on Patrick Paul in pick 72; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick76 Rnd3 Ja'Lynn Polk
Nice patience on Ja'Lynn Polk, who had no business lasting to No. 76. It fills a real need, too.
Pick134 Rnd4 Luke McCaffrey
They paid a round early for Luke McCaffrey in the 134th overall pick, more than the board wanted. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick143 Rnd5 Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III at pick No. 143 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick203 Rnd6 Decamerion Richardson
Decamerion Richardson in Round 6, Pick 28 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick256 Rnd7 Daijun Edwards
The board had Daijun Edwards higher than slot 256, and the running back fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick257 Rnd7 Michael Barrett
Nothing to complain about; Michael Barrett went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
