Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Jaguars: B-.

Every other box got a look, but quarterback did not. The Jaguars will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

That Proctor pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They went 7 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Jared Verse
In the Round 1 slot they get a bendy edge with upside. More want than need.
Pick48 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
Nothing to complain about; Xavier Worthy went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick79 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cooper Beebe. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick96 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter at pick 96 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick114 Rnd4 Max Melton
Max Melton at Round 4, Pick 14 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick116 Rnd4 Leonard Taylor III
Leonard Taylor III in slot 116 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick155 Rnd5 Jaylen Wright
No edge and no loss on Jaylen Wright in No. 155; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick195 Rnd6 Josh Proctor
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Josh Proctor at the 195th overall pick is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick211 Rnd6 Omar Speights
They let Omar Speights come to them and pounced at pick 211. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick237 Rnd7 Maurice Smith
Maurice Smith in the 237th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
