Phenom1529 DRAFTING FOR THESteelers

Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall
B
ValueA-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Steelers finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B. The Steelers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Kool-Aid McKinstry fell into the 84th overall pick.
Jayden Daniels is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get the arm they will build around, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick52
Rnd2
JC Latham
You do not let an offensive lineman like JC Latham reach the 52nd pick and blink. They did not. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick84
Rnd3
Kool-Aid McKinstry
They will replay Kool-Aid McKinstry at Round 3, Pick 20 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick119
Rnd4
Jacob Cowing
Jacob Cowing at the 119th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
Pick120
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg in pick 120 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick210
Rnd6
Kimani Vidal
Kimani Vidal at No. 210 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick215
Rnd6
Brian Ugwu
No drama and no debate, Brian Ugwu went about where he belonged in the 215th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick241
Rnd7
Ja'Had Carter
They jumped the gun on Ja'Had Carter, taking him earlier than his grade liked. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
