Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Bills: B-.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Aeneas Peebles at the 109th pick is 39 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.

With edge rusher, quarterback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Landing Amos that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Job largely done: linebacker settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Azareye'h Thomas
In the 30th overall pick they get a potential shutdown corner, a steep price for the projection. More want than need.
Pick56 Rnd2 Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins at pick 56 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick62 Rnd2 Trey Amos
A curious use of Round 2, Pick 30. Edge rusher, quarterback and other spots needed the pick; a cornerback in Trey Amos did not.
Pick109 Rnd4 Aeneas Peebles
Aeneas Peebles at the Round 4 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick132 Rnd4 Cody Simon
A straight-up fair deal on Cody Simon at No. 132, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick169 Rnd5 Ryan Fitzgerald
They took Ryan Fitzgerald at par in pick No. 169, which is nothing to complain about. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick170 Rnd5 Seth McLaughlin
By-the-book stuff, Seth McLaughlin at No. 170 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick173 Rnd5 Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius in pick 173 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick177 Rnd6 Upton Stout
A conviction pick on Upton Stout at the 177th pick that the board grades a round light. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
