test DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Seahawks a B-. Everything else got attention, and edge rusher got none. That is a strange way for the Seahawks to leave a draft.
The White III pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Zabel has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Grey Zabel
Grey Zabel in the 18th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick50
Rnd2
Jayden Higgins
They paid sticker price for Jayden Higgins in Round 2, Pick 18, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick52
Rnd2
Donovan Jackson
The board had cheaper options than Donovan Jackson at pick 52, and it noticed. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick82
Rnd3
Mason Taylor
They did well to land Mason Taylor in No. 82, just ahead of his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick92
Rnd3
Kevin Winston Jr.
They took Kevin Winston Jr. at par in pick No. 92, which is nothing to complain about. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick137
Rnd4
Tyler Shough
No edge and no loss on Tyler Shough in the 137th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick172
Rnd5
Jaydon Blue
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaydon Blue. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick175
Rnd5
Kyle Williams
Fair-plus on Kyle Williams, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick223
Rnd7
Cam Jackson
A straight-up fair deal on Cam Jackson at pick 223, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick234
Rnd7
Ricky White III
They read the board right and Ricky White III was the payoff at No. 234. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
