Mitch DRAFTING FOR THEJaguars

Draft Grade — Jaguars

FutureB-
The Jaguars kept it disciplined and banked a B-. The Jaguars did not so much draft Marvin Jones Jr. as overpay for him, 103 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
Landing Lance that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.
Pick Analysis
Pick56
Rnd2
Lee Hunter
Lee Hunter at pick 56 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick81
Rnd3
Jake Golday
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Jake Golday in the 81st overall pick, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick92
Rnd3
Jadarian Price
Jadarian Price in Round 3, Pick 28 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick100
Rnd3
Keylan Rutledge
Keylan Rutledge at slot 100 is a conviction pick that outran the value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick112
Rnd4
Trey Zuhn III
A reach for Trey Zuhn III in pick No. 112; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick124
Rnd4
Bryce Lance
They will replay Bryce Lance at No. 124 for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick164
Rnd5
Charles Demmings
Charles Demmings at the 164th pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick166
Rnd5
Logan Fano
This one needs a full-page explanation: Logan Fano in slot 166, miles early. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick203
Rnd6
Josh Cameron
A quiet steal in pick No. 203: Josh Cameron for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick233
Rnd7
Marvin Jones Jr.
They talked themselves into Marvin Jones Jr. at pick 233, and the board did not agree. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick240
Rnd7
Isaiah Nwokobia
They did well to land Isaiah Nwokobia in Round 7, Pick 24, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick245
Rnd7
John Michael Gyllenborg
Nice patience on John Michael Gyllenborg, who had no business lasting to the 245th overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
