Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesD FutureA
The Raiders let Brooks fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

You could see the war room lean forward. Tahj Brooks at pick 222 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.

Every board in the league had Brosmer lower, and that gap is the story. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Will Johnson
In slot 12 they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick37 Rnd2 Tate Ratledge
Fair-plus on Tate Ratledge, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick68 Rnd3 Jihaad Campbell
They barely believed it either: Jihaad Campbell still on the board at the 68th pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick73 Rnd3 Kaleb Johnson
You do not let a running back like Kaleb Johnson reach pick No. 73 and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Pick106 Rnd4 Jaxson Dart
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jaxson Dart. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick142 Rnd5 Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. in the 142nd overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick178 Rnd6 Jake Majors
They robbed the room for Jake Majors here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick212 Rnd6 Max Brosmer
They reached a country mile for Max Brosmer at the Round 6 slot, and the board is aghast. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick216 Rnd6 Chris Paul Jr.
Chris Paul Jr. in pick No. 216 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick222 Rnd7 Tahj Brooks
A running back of that caliber at the Round 7 slot is the definition of value, full stop. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
