Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Bengals: B-.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Bengals spent Round 7, Pick 18 on Jared Wiley, a name the board had a full 52 spots lower.

They punted on linebacker, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Good work on the whole, with linebacker the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Jer'Zhan Newton
In slot 18 they get a wrecking ball inside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick49 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
No drama and no debate, Tyler Guyton went about where he belonged in the 49th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick80 Rnd3 Trey Benson
They took Trey Benson at par in the 80th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick115 Rnd4 Donovan Jackson
A straight-up fair deal on Donovan Jackson at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick151 Rnd5 Ben Sinnott
They paid sticker price for Ben Sinnott in pick 151, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick173 Rnd5 Jacob Cowing
Jacob Cowing at No. 173 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick196 Rnd6 Sheridan Jones
The board had cheaper options than Sheridan Jones at the 196th pick, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick238 Rnd7 Jared Wiley
A big swing on Jared Wiley at Round 7, Pick 18, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick254 Rnd7 Walter Rouse
Walter Rouse in pick 254 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
