Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Packers.

The Packers went off the board in a big way for Ahmed Hassanein, 29 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. They banked enough surplus on Nelson to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In pick No. 23 they get a wrecking ball inside at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick55 Rnd2 Jalen Royals
They paid a round early for Jalen Royals in the Round 2 slot, more than the board wanted. It fills a real need, too.
Pick87 Rnd3 Darius Alexander
A straight-up fair deal on Darius Alexander at slot 87, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick124 Rnd4 Jake Majors
Jake Majors at the 124th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick159 Rnd5 Tyler Baron
Good price on Tyler Baron in Round 5, Pick 21, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick166 Rnd5 Tommi Hill
A tidy little value on Tommi Hill in pick 166, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick198 Rnd6 Jack Nelson
They barely believed it either: Jack Nelson still on the board at the Round 6 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick209 Rnd6 Ahmed Hassanein
They reached into another round for Ahmed Hassanein, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick236 Rnd7 Shemar James
Shemar James at pick 236 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick237 Rnd7 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
No drama and no debate, Jamon Dumas-Johnson went about where he belonged in No. 237. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick241 Rnd7 Bilhal Kone
A tidy bit of business in the 241st pick, where Bilhal Kone graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick250 Rnd7 Brant Kuithe
Brant Kuithe at pick No. 250 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
