A masterclass at the trade table lands the Falcons a B+.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Falcons spent the 187th overall pick on Austin Reed, a name most had 44 spots down the list. No fireworks, but a solid B+.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The Owens steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. It is not that Smith is a bad player; it is that the Falcons had louder needs to answer first.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
