Draft Grade — Falcons

FutureB
Daniels is the Falcons' new face under center. Grade: D. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Falcons did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.
Whatever Jayden Daniels becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. The offensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. With offensive lineman and interior defensive lineman unsolved, spending premium capital on OLB-EDGE is the choice that costs them.
Getting Bullard where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In pick No. 8 they get a passer to set the clock by. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick43
Rnd2
Chop Robinson
A reasonable price with a little left over, Chop Robinson in slot 43. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick74
Rnd3
Javon Bullard
A slide stopped in the Round 3 slot, with Javon Bullard worth more than the price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick75
Rnd3
Malachi Corley
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Malachi Corley. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick109
Rnd4
Javon Solomon
A curious use of the 109th overall pick. Offensive lineman and interior defensive lineman needed the pick; an OLB-EDGE in Javon Solomon did not.
Pick110
Rnd4
Max Melton
Max Melton in pick 110 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick140
Rnd5
Dylan Laube
A straight-up fair deal on Dylan Laube at the 140th pick, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick189
Rnd6
JD Bertrand
No edge and no loss on JD Bertrand in No. 189; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick201
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
By-the-book stuff, Jared Wiley at slot 201 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
