Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureC+
Daniels is the plan now, and the Falcons grade out a D-.

The Falcons lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. It grades a D-, and the process earned it.

Jayden Daniels is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.

The Robinson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They banked enough surplus on Wilson to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jayden Daniels. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick27 Rnd1 Chop Robinson
In the 27th pick they get a bendy edge with upside, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick74 Rnd3 Javon Bullard
Value with a capital V on Javon Bullard in No. 74, a genuine coup. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick109 Rnd4 Roman Wilson
They read the board right and Roman Wilson was the payoff at pick 109. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick127 Rnd4 Kris Abrams-Draine
A clean, defensible pick in slot 127 with a little surplus value in Kris Abrams-Draine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick158 Rnd5 Jaylan Ford
Nothing to complain about; Jaylan Ford went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick189 Rnd6 Steve Linton
They paid sticker price for Steve Linton in pick No. 189, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick215 Rnd6 Dominic Lovett
A slide stopped in Round 6, Pick 40, with Dominic Lovett worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick239 Rnd7 Matthew Jones
A reasonable price with a little left over, Matthew Jones in No. 239. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick248 Rnd7 Carson Steele
Carson Steele in the 248th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
