FutureC
The Falcons left with their quarterback, and a B to match. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Falcons committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped offensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
The trade work was a quiet net positive.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In pick 8 they get a passer to set the clock by. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick24
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
In the Round 1 slot they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. More want than need.
Pick74
Rnd3
Ruke Orhorhoro
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ruke Orhorhoro. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick109
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg in No. 109 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick145
Rnd5
Nelson Ceaser
Nelson Ceaser at the 145th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick170
Rnd5
Cole Bishop
Steal is underselling it; Cole Bishop at slot 170 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick248
Rnd7
Isaiah Neyor
Isaiah Neyor in the 248th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
