The Commanders drew a line under the quarterback search with Simpson: B-. The Sawyer Robertson selection is the head-turner. The Commanders reached 73 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
Whatever Ty Simpson becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
However the rest shakes out, Beck at that price is a win they earned.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Ty Simpson
In pick 19 they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
Pick77
Rnd3
Carson Beck
Carson Beck slid further than he should have, and No. 77 is lovely value for the quarterback. The roster fit checks out.
Pick112
Rnd4
Sawyer Robertson
Sawyer Robertson at pick No. 112 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
