Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall
B-
ValueB+
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Buccaneers a B-. The needs board said one thing and the Buccaneers did another, using the 131st pick on Tao Johnson while interior defensive lineman, offensive lineman and other spots waited.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Landing Coleman that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Caleb Banks
In pick No. 31 they get a problem off the edge at fair value.
Pick63
Rnd2
Jonah Coleman
Jonah Coleman in Round 2, Pick 31 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It fills a real need, too.
Pick95
Rnd3
Keon Sabb
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Keon Sabb in the 95th pick. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick131
Rnd4
Tao Johnson
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Tao Johnson adds a safety and leaves interior defensive lineman, offensive lineman and other spots untouched.
