Draft Grade — Rams
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Rams a B-. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Dillon Thieneman got past him. The Rams do not have to explain a thing at the 61st overall pick.
The cost of the Bowry reach is exactly the players who went right after him. With interior defensive lineman and edge rusher unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Mansoor Delane
In No. 13 they get an island corner. More want than need.
Pick29
Rnd1
Avieon Terrell
A curious use of the Round 1 slot. Interior defensive lineman and edge rusher needed the pick; a cornerback in Avieon Terrell did not.
Pick61
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
They robbed the room for Dillon Thieneman here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick93
Rnd3
Jude Bowry
They talked themselves into Jude Bowry at slot 93, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick167
Rnd5
Taylen Green
They paid sticker price for Taylen Green in pick 167, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick205
Rnd6
Nolan Rucci
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Nolan Rucci. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick208
Rnd6
De'Zhaun Stribling
A clean, defensible pick in the 208th pick with a little surplus value in De'Zhaun Stribling. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick232
Rnd7
Shamar Easter
They took Shamar Easter at par in Round 7, Pick 16, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick250
Rnd7
Rueben Owens II
A tidy little value on Rueben Owens II in the 250th overall pick, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick256
Rnd7
Michael Harris
Michael Harris at pick No. 256 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
