Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
B
ValueB-
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Browns left with their quarterback, and a B to match. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Browns spent their marquee pick on Ty Simpson, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. Stewart has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Ty Simpson
Ty Simpson at No. 6 is a conviction pick that outran the value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick24
Rnd1
Denzel Boston
Denzel Boston at Round 1, Pick 24 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick39
Rnd2
Keith Abney II
By-the-book stuff, Keith Abney II at pick No. 39 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick70
Rnd3
Brian Parker II
Brian Parker II in the Round 3 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick107
Rnd4
Caden Curry
They did well to land Caden Curry in pick 107, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick139
Rnd5
Kage Casey
Nothing to complain about; Kage Casey went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick144
Rnd5
Terion Stewart
A reach on Terion Stewart in the 144th overall pick; the board had better options right there. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick147
Rnd5
Connor Tollison
Connor Tollison at slot 147 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick204
Rnd6
Luke Altmyer
They read the board right and Luke Altmyer was the payoff at slot 204. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick248
Rnd7
Jamari Lyons
Jamari Lyons in the Round 7 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
