Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall

FutureB-
Quarterback settled, Mendoza in the fold, and a B- for the Raiders. Start where it matters. The Raiders took Fernando Mendoza to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
They will answer for taking linebacker early while running back and tight end went begging. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Curry at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
In No. 1 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick36
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
A straight-up fair deal on Sonny Styles at the 36th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick67
Rnd3
Deontae Lawson
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Deontae Lawson at linebacker with running back and tight end open.
Pick102
Rnd4
D'Angelo Ponds
D'Angelo Ponds at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick117
Rnd4
Caden Curry
Nice patience on Caden Curry, who had no business lasting to slot 117. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick134
Rnd4
Ar'maj Reed-Adams
Ar'maj Reed-Adams in pick 134 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick174
Rnd5
Rayshaun Benny
No edge and no loss on Rayshaun Benny in Round 5, Pick 36; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick180
Rnd6
Eric McAlister
Eric McAlister slid further than he should have, and the 180th pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick183
Rnd6
Josh Moten
A clean, defensible pick in the 183rd overall pick with a little surplus value in Josh Moten. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick219
Rnd7
Jordan White
They paid sticker price for Jordan White in the 219th pick, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
