The cost of the Alexander reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They went 8 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster. The veteran additions, Nik Bonitto chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
