Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Steelers spent the 53rd pick on Zach Frazier, a name the board had a full 28 spots lower. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. The Smith pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots still on the board. They went 3 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

The back end got a real overhaul.
