Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The 49ers won the night they stopped Abney II from sliding. Grade: B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Keith Abney II tumbling to the 49ers in Round 4, Pick 38 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

The Elarms-Orr reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Rueben Bain Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a problem off the edge, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick58 Rnd2 Jeremiyah Love
Jeremiyah Love in slot 58 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick92 Rnd3 Max Iheanachor
Steal is underselling it; Max Iheanachor at pick 92 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick130 Rnd4 Deion Burks
They robbed the room for Deion Burks here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick133 Rnd4 Kaleb Elarms-Orr
They talked themselves into Kaleb Elarms-Orr at pick No. 133, and the board did not agree. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick138 Rnd4 Keith Abney II
A cornerback of that caliber at No. 138 is the definition of value, full stop. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick171 Rnd5 VJ Payne
This one needs a full-page explanation: VJ Payne in Round 5, Pick 33, miles early. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick246 Rnd7 Zavion Thomas
Taking Zavion Thomas in the 246th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick251 Rnd7 Bryce Foster
Bryce Foster in the Round 7 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick255 Rnd7 Anez Cooper
Value said wait; Anez Cooper in pick No. 255 says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
