Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesB FutureA
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Browns a B.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The Browns did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to quarterback, which was the need that mattered most. The bottom line is a respectable B.

The Tiernan reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Smith falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.

The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Denzel Boston
In slot 26 they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick28 Rnd1 Kenyon Sadiq
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a mismatch in the passing game at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick38 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Emmanuel Pregnon. The roster fit checks out.
Pick39 Rnd2 Caleb Tiernan
They left a pile of value on the table to take Caleb Tiernan this early at pick No. 39. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick70 Rnd3 Malachi Fields
Malachi Fields at the Round 3 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick91 Rnd3 Sam Hecht
Fair-plus on Sam Hecht, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick106 Rnd4 Keylan Rutledge
They went early on Keylan Rutledge in the 106th pick, and the value did not follow. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick107 Rnd4 Genesis Smith
They read the board right and Genesis Smith was the payoff at the 107th overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick126 Rnd4 Gracen Halton
The board had cheaper options than Gracen Halton at the 126th overall pick, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick139 Rnd5 Domani Jackson
A conviction pick on Domani Jackson at pick 139 that the board grades a round light. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick144 Rnd5 Beau Stephens
No edge and no loss on Beau Stephens in Round 5, Pick 6; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick147 Rnd5 Keagen Trost
No drama and no debate, Keagen Trost went about where he belonged in slot 147. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick204 Rnd6 Keyshaun Elliott
Keyshaun Elliott at No. 204 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick248 Rnd7 Andre Fuller
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Andre Fuller at pick No. 248 is the proof. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
