Mo DRAFTING FOR THEBills
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Bills did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. Nobody had Jalen McLeod this high, and it is not close. The Bills reached 40 spots to get him at pick 169. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Landing Restrepo that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. That linebacker hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In the 30th overall pick they get a load in the middle, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick56
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on TreVeyon Henderson. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick62
Rnd2
Tre Harris
Tre Harris at the 62nd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick109
Rnd4
Jacob Parrish
They liked Jacob Parrish enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 109. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick132
Rnd4
Xavier Restrepo
Xavier Restrepo at Round 4, Pick 30 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick169
Rnd5
Jalen McLeod
Jalen McLeod at the Round 5 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick170
Rnd5
Logan Brown
You do not let an offensive lineman like Logan Brown reach pick 170 and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick173
Rnd5
RJ Harvey
A quiet steal in No. 173: RJ Harvey for less than the market said. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick177
Rnd6
Jake Briningstool
Value with a capital V on Jake Briningstool in pick No. 177, a genuine coup. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick206
Rnd6
Fadil Diggs
Fadil Diggs at slot 206 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
