Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Panthers: B-.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Panthers would have aced it. Sai'vion Jones at the Round 4 slot is 28 spots clear of where he belonged. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Kelvin Banks Jr.
They took Kelvin Banks Jr. at par in the 8th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick57 Rnd2 Donovan Ezeiruaku
Donovan Ezeiruaku in the Round 2 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick74 Rnd3 Darien Porter
A straight-up fair deal on Darien Porter at pick No. 74, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick111 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. slipping to the 111th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick114 Rnd4 Sai'vion Jones
Sai'vion Jones at No. 114 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick140 Rnd5 Brashard Smith
They did well to land Brashard Smith in Round 5, Pick 2, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick146 Rnd5 Mitchell Evans
Mitchell Evans at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick163 Rnd5 Ty Robinson
Ty Robinson in the 163rd pick is fair value, right on his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick230 Rnd7 Carson Vinson
Carson Vinson at slot 230 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
