Mo DRAFTING FOR THEPanthers

Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall

TradesB-
FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Panthers. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Fadil Diggs at the 140th overall pick is 85 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
Getting Wilson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 8 they get a problem off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick57
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
Nice patience on Xavier Watts, who had no business lasting to No. 57. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick74
Rnd3
Tre Harris
The board fumbled Tre Harris all the way to pick 74, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick111
Rnd4
Isaiah Bond
Isaiah Bond at the Round 4 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick114
Rnd4
Brashard Smith
Brashard Smith in pick No. 114 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick140
Rnd5
Fadil Diggs
This one needs a full-page explanation: Fadil Diggs in slot 140, miles early. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick146
Rnd5
Emery Jones Jr.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Emery Jones Jr. reach the Round 5 slot and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick163
Rnd5
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson in the 163rd overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick230
Rnd7
Shilo Sanders
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Shilo Sanders well ahead of where he belonged. The roster fit checks out.
