Mo DRAFTING FOR THE49ers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall

TradesB-
FutureB-
The 49ers won the night they stopped Kilgore from sliding. Grade: B. The 49ers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jalon Kilgore fell into pick 133. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Caleb Lomu
In slot 27 they get an anchor for the offensive line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick58
Rnd2
Chase Bisontis
They did well to land Chase Bisontis in pick 58, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick127
Rnd4
Bud Clark
Circle this one: Bud Clark at pick No. 127 is a fall that decides a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick133
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Jalon Kilgore in the Round 4 slot, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick138
Rnd4
Joe Royer
They read the board right and Joe Royer was the payoff at No. 138. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick139
Rnd4
Harold Perkins Jr.
Harold Perkins Jr. in the 139th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
