Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall

FutureB
The Panthers robbed the room for Milroe. Final grade: B. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Panthers were there to profit. Jalen Milroe, the No. 95 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 140th pick. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
Reaching for Sanders left real value on the table behind him. Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
In No. 14 they get juice off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick23
Rnd1
Emeka Egbuka
In the 23rd pick they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick74
Rnd3
Charles Grant
A wild overpay on Charles Grant in pick 74, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick111
Rnd4
Joshua Farmer
They paid sticker price for Joshua Farmer in slot 111, and that is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick114
Rnd4
Kevin Winston Jr.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 4 slot, where Kevin Winston Jr. graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick140
Rnd5
Jalen Milroe
You do not let a quarterback like Jalen Milroe reach pick No. 140 and blink. They did not. The roster fit checks out.
Pick146
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at Round 5, Pick 8 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick163
Rnd5
Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant at the 163rd overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick227
Rnd7
Shilo Sanders
They left a pile of value on the table to take Shilo Sanders this early at pick No. 227. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
