You can draft well and still miss the point. The Panthers did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to wide receiver, which was the need that mattered most.

If McLaughlin pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
