FutureB
The Panthers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. You can hear the double-takes from here. The Panthers took Shilo Sanders at No. 230, roughly 53 spots before his name belonged. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
Ransom falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Mike Green
In pick 15 they get a problem off the edge, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick25
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In slot 25 they get a matchup problem out wide, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker at the 36th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick67
Rnd3
Charles Grant
Value said wait; Charles Grant in the Round 3 slot says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick111
Rnd4
Joshua Farmer
Joshua Farmer in No. 111 is fair value, right on his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick114
Rnd4
Zy Alexander
A slide stopped in Round 4, Pick 12, with Zy Alexander worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick140
Rnd5
Anthony Belton
Somehow Anthony Belton was still sitting there in Round 5, Pick 2, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick146
Rnd5
Lathan Ransom
Taking Lathan Ransom in the 146th pick is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
Pick151
Rnd5
Kyle McCord
The board fumbled Kyle McCord all the way to pick No. 151, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick163
Rnd5
Brashard Smith
Brashard Smith at the Round 5 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick211
Rnd6
Carson Vinson
They liked Carson Vinson enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 211. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick230
Rnd7
Shilo Sanders
They reached a country mile for Shilo Sanders at pick 230, and the board is aghast. A need, and now a little less of one.
