Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Steelers a B-.

There is reaching, and then there is Zion Logue at the 238th overall pick. The Steelers jumped the board by 30 and dared it to prove them wrong.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The Barton pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher and tight end still on the board. Green falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In the 22nd pick they get a building block for the line. Need was not the driver here.
Pick52 Rnd2 Graham Barton
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending Round 2, Pick 20 on Graham Barton with edge rusher and tight end unsolved.
Pick84 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
A clean, defensible pick in pick 84 with a little surplus value in Mike Sainristil. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick97 Rnd3 Bucky Irving
Bucky Irving at the Round 3 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick120 Rnd4 Tyrice Knight
Fair-plus on Tyrice Knight, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick121 Rnd4 Jordan Travis
A premium they did not need to pay, Jordan Travis a notch or two before his time. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick171 Rnd5 Renardo Green
Renardo Green in slot 171 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick198 Rnd6 Tyrone Tracy Jr.
They jumped the gun on Tyrone Tracy Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. It fills a real need, too.
Pick238 Rnd7 Zion Logue
A real head-scratcher, Zion Logue in the 238th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
