Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall C+
ValueC+ NeedC+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers won the night they stopped Burke from sliding. Grade: C+.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Steelers were there to profit. Denzel Burke, the No. 114 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 5, Pick 18.

They will need Savaiinaea to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

If Jonah Savaiinaea and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Jonah Savaiinaea
In the Round 1 slot they get a cornerstone up front, though the board says they badly overpaid. Need was not the driver here.
Pick83 Rnd3 Carson Schwesinger
Carson Schwesinger slid further than he should have, and Round 3, Pick 19 is lovely value for the linebacker. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick123 Rnd4 Jaylin Noel
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 123rd pick is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick156 Rnd5 Denzel Burke
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Denzel Burke in pick No. 156, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick185 Rnd6 Kalel Mullings
Kalel Mullings at slot 185 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick229 Rnd7 Jeremy Crawshaw
They reached into another round for Jeremy Crawshaw, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
