Draft Grade — Saints
Overall
B
ValueB

FutureB+
The Saints won the night they stopped Gordon II from sliding. Grade: B. Somebody in slot 253 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Saints sat still while Ollie Gordon II, the No. 160 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
They are betting Griffith proves the room right and everyone else wrong. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Spending an early pick on safety with quarterback open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Mykel Williams
In the 19th overall pick they get a double-digit-sack hope. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick53
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton in the Round 2 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick55
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
Value with a capital V on Tyler Warren in pick 55, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick74
Rnd3
Kamari Ramsey
Steal is underselling it; Kamari Ramsey at pick No. 74 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick86
Rnd3
Luke Kandra
They talked themselves into Luke Kandra at Round 3, Pick 22, and the board did not agree. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick90
Rnd3
Tory Horton
Tory Horton at slot 90 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick111
Rnd4
Andrew Mukuba
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Andrew Mukuba while clear needs at quarterback sat open.
Pick124
Rnd4
Deontae Lawson
Somehow Deontae Lawson was still sitting there in the 124th pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick128
Rnd4
Kyren Lacy
Kyren Lacy at the Round 4 slot is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick185
Rnd6
Thor Griffith
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Thor Griffith well ahead of where he belonged. The roster fit checks out.
Pick198
Rnd6
Davison Igbinosun
A reach on Davison Igbinosun in No. 198; the board had better options right there. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick253
Rnd7
Ollie Gordon II
You do not let a running back like Ollie Gordon II reach pick No. 253 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
