Draft Grade — Cowboys

Reed should have been long gone. The Cowboys pounced, and earned a B+. The real work happened on the phones. The Cowboys fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
The Reed pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Ingram-Dawkins pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Ashton Jeanty
In No. 14 they get a featured back at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick17
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In the 17th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick76
Rnd3
Carson Schwesinger
Carson Schwesinger at the 76th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick81
Rnd3
Darien Porter
Darien Porter in the Round 3 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick117
Rnd4
Kyle McCord
By-the-book stuff, Kyle McCord at slot 117 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick149
Rnd5
Aeneas Peebles
Aeneas Peebles slid further than he should have, and pick 149 is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick174
Rnd5
Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins this early at the 174th pick. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick204
Rnd6
Joshua Gray
No edge and no loss on Joshua Gray in pick 204; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick211
Rnd6
Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed at the Round 6 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick232
Rnd7
Cam Jackson
Cam Jackson in Round 7, Pick 16 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick239
Rnd7
Zeek Biggers
Zeek Biggers at slot 239 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It fills a real need, too.
Pick247
Rnd7
John Williams
John Williams in the 247th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
