GilE DRAFTING FOR THEBears
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B
ValueB+

FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Bears and Moore: B. You build a draft on nights like this. Malachi Moore had no business being available in pick 149, and the Bears did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In slot 10 they get a blindside protector at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Kenneth Grant
Taking Kenneth Grant in No. 39 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick41
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
Nothing to complain about; Tyler Booker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick72
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
They read the board right and TreVeyon Henderson was the payoff at the Round 3 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick149
Rnd5
Malachi Moore
Somehow Malachi Moore was still sitting there in the 149th pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
