Draft Grade — Rams
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Rams left with their quarterback, and a D to match.

The phones were a trap the Rams kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.

So much rides on Drake Maye that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. They banked enough surplus on McCoy to cover a lot of smaller sins.

They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In slot 10 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
Pick29 Rnd1 Emeka Egbuka
In the Round 1 slot they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick54 Rnd2 Quinyon Mitchell
Quinyon Mitchell slid further than he should have, and Round 2, Pick 22 is lovely value for the cornerback. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick86 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany at the 86th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick99 Rnd3 Tykee Smith
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tykee Smith in No. 99. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick124 Rnd4 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson at pick No. 124 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick159 Rnd5 Tyler Batty
They took Tyler Batty at par in pick 159, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick191 Rnd6 Ben Bywater
Ben Bywater at the 191st overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick216 Rnd6 Bru McCoy
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Bru McCoy in slot 216, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick221 Rnd7 Darius Muasau
Darius Muasau in No. 221 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
