Best value of the weekend goes to the Bears for Vidal: B-. The rest of the league will want that one back. Kimani Vidal tumbling to the Bears in pick 249 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. The Joel Wilson pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Good work on the whole, with linebacker the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value.
Pick26
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
A reasonable price with a little left over, Amarius Mims in slot 26. The roster fit checks out.
Pick60
Rnd2
Brandon Dorlus
Brandon Dorlus at pick No. 60 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick75
Rnd3
Chris Braswell
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Chris Braswell in the 75th pick, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick110
Rnd4
Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter slipping to the 110th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick122
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson slid further than he should have, and pick 122 is lovely value for the cornerback. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick128
Rnd4
DeWayne Carter
DeWayne Carter in No. 128 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick146
Rnd5
Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni in Round 5, Pick 10 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick162
Rnd5
Dallin Holker
A quiet steal in the Round 5 slot: Dallin Holker for less than the market said. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick249
Rnd7
Kimani Vidal
The board fumbled Kimani Vidal all the way to the 249th pick, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
