Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Broncos bet the future on Penix Jr.. The board says D.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Broncos shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.

So much rides on Michael Penix Jr. that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Getting Jones where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Michael Penix Jr.
In slot 12 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Jordan Morgan
Nice patience on Jordan Morgan, who had no business lasting to the 34th overall pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick76 Rnd3 Chris Braswell
You do not let an edge rusher like Chris Braswell reach pick No. 76 and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick113 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
They read the board right and Khyree Jackson was the payoff at pick 113. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick121 Rnd4 Ainias Smith
Ainias Smith at the 121st pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick149 Rnd5 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott in the Round 5 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick233 Rnd7 Omar Speights
Steal is underselling it; Omar Speights at Round 7, Pick 13 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick240 Rnd7 Myles Jones
Myles Jones in No. 240 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
