FutureA+
The Bears let Eboigbe fall into their laps, and walked away with a A. The Bears ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A to show for it.
The Eboigbe pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. Adding Tee Higgins by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Laiatu Latu
In the Round 1 slot they get juice off the edge at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick16
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In No. 16 they get a go-to option on the outside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick48
Rnd2
Tyler Guyton
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Guyton. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick74
Rnd3
Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson at slot 74 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick80
Rnd3
Caelen Carson
Nothing to complain about; Caelen Carson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick110
Rnd4
Dominick Puni
By-the-book stuff, Dominick Puni at pick 110 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick126
Rnd4
Howard Cross III
They took Howard Cross III at par in the 126th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick147
Rnd5
Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks in pick No. 147 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick188
Rnd6
Joe Milton III
They let Joe Milton III come to them and pounced at slot 188. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick231
Rnd7
Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe in pick 231 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
