Goku122 DRAFTING FOR THEVikings

Draft Grade — Vikings

FutureB+
The Vikings drew a line under the quarterback search with Maye: D. The Vikings lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.
The whole projection now runs through Drake Maye; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Every board in the league had Guyton lower, and that gap is the story.
That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In the 7th overall pick they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick38
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
JT Tuimoloau is a better player than Round 2, Pick 6 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick42
Rnd2
Tyler Guyton
Tyler Guyton at pick 42 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick68
Rnd3
Ruke Orhorhoro
They paid sticker price for Ruke Orhorhoro in pick No. 68, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick108
Rnd4
Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni at slot 108 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick148
Rnd5
James Williams
Steal is underselling it; James Williams at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick164
Rnd5
Jaylin Simpson
Jaylin Simpson in No. 164 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick179
Rnd6
Theo Wease
A clean, defensible pick in the 179th pick with a little surplus value in Theo Wease. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick230
Rnd7
Steele Chambers
A quiet steal in the 230th pick: Steele Chambers for less than the market said. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
