You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Saints did exactly that with Tyler Batty in pick 185.

Nwankpa falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
