Draft Grade — Browns
Overall A-
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureA
Grand theft in Round 2, Pick 23: the Browns steal Thieneman and grade out a A-.

The real work happened on the phones. The Browns fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.

The Thieneman steal is the beam this whole class leans on. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The Trevor Penning pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

Bottom line, with Carnell Tate leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In pick No. 20 they get a weapon on the perimeter at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick31 Rnd1 Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles slid further than he should have, and the 31st pick is lovely value for the linebacker. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick39 Rnd2 Chris Brazzell II
They paid sticker price for Chris Brazzell II in No. 39, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick55 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman at the 55th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick63 Rnd2 Max Klare
A quiet steal in the Round 2 slot: Max Klare for less than the market said. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick74 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter at pick 74 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick107 Rnd4 Keylan Rutledge
Keylan Rutledge in Round 4, Pick 7 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick139 Rnd5 Isaiah World
Good price on Isaiah World in the 139th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick144 Rnd5 Jaeden Roberts
Jaeden Roberts at slot 144 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick147 Rnd5 Drew Allar
They did well to land Drew Allar in the Round 5 slot, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick204 Rnd6 Le'Veon Moss
No drama and no debate, Le'Veon Moss went about where he belonged in pick No. 204. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick207 Rnd6 Josh Moten
Josh Moten in pick 207 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick248 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at the 248th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
