A passer of the future in Penix Jr., and a C-, for the Commanders.

The Commanders spent the pick that matters most on Michael Penix Jr., and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. The final tally is a middling C-.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. Cephus has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

The Commanders clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

So much rides on Michael Penix Jr. that the real verdict is a season or two away.

They jumped the gun on Ja'Tavion Sanders, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.

Payton Wilson in Round 3, Pick 3 is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.

No edge and no loss on Zak Zinter in slot 95; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
