Draft Grade — Rams

A solid, sensible weekend for the Rams: B. Nobody had Caleb Tiernan this high, and it is not close. The Rams reached 27 spots to get him at the 59th overall pick. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. Leavitt at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Safety was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The back end got a real overhaul.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
In slot 11 they get a downhill hitter at safety, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick28
Rnd1
Avieon Terrell
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a ballhawk on the outside at a price that makes it sweeter. Need was not the driver here.
Pick59
Rnd2
Caleb Tiernan
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Caleb Tiernan well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick90
Rnd3
Sam Leavitt
Sam Leavitt at the Round 3 slot is money in the bank, a quarterback taken below his worth. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick166
Rnd5
Connor Tollison
Connor Tollison in pick 166 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
