Draft Grade — Jets
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
Simpson is the Jets' new face under center. Grade: B-. They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Ty Simpson is the Jets' quarterback, full stop. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Allar steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
The Saka reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Ty Simpson
In the 4th overall pick they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick18
Rnd1
Carnell Tate
In Round 1, Pick 18 they get a matchup problem out wide. A real need, handled.
Pick35
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Anthony Hill Jr. at pick No. 35, value and slot in agreement. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick45
Rnd2
Dani Dennis-Sutton
Dani Dennis-Sutton at No. 45 is a conviction pick that outran the value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick105
Rnd4
Anto Saka
A reach on Anto Saka in the Round 4 slot; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick176
Rnd5
Drew Allar
The board fumbled Drew Allar all the way to pick 176, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick178
Rnd5
Darius Taylor
They paid sticker price for Darius Taylor in slot 178, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
