Draft Grade — Bears

Good, not great, for the Bears: B-. The Bears torched the value chart for Trey Moore, taking him 45 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
R Mason Thomas
In pick 29 they get a bendy edge with upside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick61
Rnd2
Jaeden Roberts
Jaeden Roberts in slot 61 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick93
Rnd3
Mikail Kamara
A wild overpay on Mikail Kamara in the Round 3 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick128
Rnd4
J.C. Davis
The board had cheaper options than J.C. Davis at the 128th pick, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick168
Rnd5
Trey Moore
Value said wait; Trey Moore in the 168th overall pick says they were not listening. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
