FutureD
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Panthers. If confidence were a draft strategy, the Panthers would have aced it. Torricelli Simpkins III at Round 7, Pick 14 is 39 spots clear of where he belonged. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up. King at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 8 they get juice off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick20
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In No. 20 they get a go-to option on the outside, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick74
Rnd3
Ashton Gillotte
Ashton Gillotte at pick No. 74 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick114
Rnd4
Jacob Parrish
Jacob Parrish in slot 114 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick140
Rnd5
Kobe King
Nice patience on Kobe King, who had no business lasting to the 140th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick146
Rnd5
Jah Joyner
They paid a round early for Jah Joyner in pick 146, more than the board wanted. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick163
Rnd5
Elijah Roberts
They talked themselves into Elijah Roberts at pick 163, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick230
Rnd7
Torricelli Simpkins III
They left a pile of value on the table to take Torricelli Simpkins III this early at the 230th overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
