kcnova23 DRAFTING FOR THEChiefs
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall

FutureB-
Williams should have been long gone. The Chiefs pounced, and earned a B. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Chiefs watched Mario Williams slide 38 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Xavier Worthy
In slot 31 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick63
Rnd2
Mekhi Wingo
They took Mekhi Wingo at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick94
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice in Round 3, Pick 31 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick131
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg in pick 131 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick163
Rnd5
Tyler Guyton
Somehow Tyler Guyton was still sitting there in the 163rd overall pick, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick171
Rnd5
Devontez Walker
Circle this one: Devontez Walker at the 171st pick is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick175
Rnd5
Gabriel Murphy
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Gabriel Murphy in No. 175. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick209
Rnd6
Cam Hart
Taking Cam Hart in pick No. 209 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick252
Rnd7
Mario Williams
Steal is underselling it; Mario Williams at the 252nd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
