Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Jets.

The Jaylen Reed pick is the one that will follow the Jets into the fall. They took him 26 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

Safety was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Armand Membou
A straight-up fair deal on Armand Membou at the 7th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick42 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
They let Malaki Starks come to them and pounced at pick 42. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick73 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
They paid sticker price for Elijah Arroyo in pick No. 73, and that is fine. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick110 Rnd4 Billy Bowman Jr.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Billy Bowman Jr.. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick145 Rnd5 Pat Bryant
No edge and no loss on Pat Bryant in slot 145; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick162 Rnd5 Jaylen Reed
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jaylen Reed well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick186 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
The board had cheaper options than Jay Higgins at the 186th overall pick, and it noticed. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick207 Rnd6 Howard Cross III
They paid up for Howard Cross III at pick No. 207 when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
